This month we are excited to be joining our brothers and sisters at St Mary’s to host a special, reflective time to explore, in a creative way, The Lord’s Prayer. It is part of an initiative by Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, who is challenging Christians all around the world, no matter what denomination, no matter where they are, to explore prayer, and more specifically the Lord’s Prayer, ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.
Maybe you remember praying the Lord’s Prayer in school… there is power in those words. Power to change things. This power comes not from us, but from God.
Prayer changes things. Whether you believe or not, I challenge you to take up the Archbishop’s challenge and pray The Lord’s Prayer, either in private, or by joining us at St Mary’s on June 1st, and see what happens. Here are the words of the traditional version:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
All are welcome to come and join us on the 1st June, whether you are just exploring, or maybe you normally worship elsewhere but would like to join us in this opportunity to unite as brothers and sisters in the Christian faith in this village as we come together to pray ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.
As ever, if you would like to know more about this Jesus, or if you would like us to introduce you to Him, get in touch:
Services are held weekly at 10.30am at The Institute - all are welcome!
